Background
The company is a well established financial research and support company located in the central London area. Information Technology is core strength and the technical challenges and breadth of technology exposure will be attractive to candidates wishing to be part of a dynamic team that will present them with a stimulating environment.
The Systems Infrastructure team is growing and the company wishes to find outstanding individuals who can contribute to this team. There are a broad range of technologies and systems in use, and the team supports an advanced, high-pressure environment.
The Role
The company is seeking an experienced Windows Infrastructure Engineer to join the Systems group. The group is responsible for all company technical infrastructure and is expected to be approximately 15-strong by Q2 2010. The project work covers a broad scope of managing and upgrading the current infrastructure as well as researching and implementing new technologies.
The role will mainly centre on project work covering all aspects of the company’s Microsoft server infrastructure. As with most similar companies there is a third-line and off-hours support requirement, which operates on a rota.
The role requires an experienced Windows engineer with extensive experience of the core set of Microsoft Server products including Active Directory and Exchange. Strong scripting skills is also essential. Knowledge and experience of networking, SAN management and server/storage hardware would be highly desirable.
Suitable Candidates
This role requires a skilled engineer with a strong delivery track record. Financial institution experience in a trading environment is desirable but not essential. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines from a top university is required. It is expected that the successful applicant will have at least 3 years experience of working in a systems role.
Experience of providing automated solutions using Microsoft technologies is important, as is exposure to Windows 2003/2008 technologies in some form. The successful applicant will be one of the company’s experts on Windows related technologies and will have to demonstrate strong problem solving skills along with the technical experience needed to build high-performance, resilient solutions.
The company has high academic hiring standards and prefers degree qualified candidates with a 2:1 degree or better. Salary and compensation package will depend on experience and the skills the candidate has to offer but will be in line with expectations at a top-flight financial institution.
